Two films that came out (0) IN 1931. Dracula and Frankenstein, have changed cinema history. There have (1) BEEN hundreds of remakes of these stories.
Frankenstein´s monster and Count Dracula (2) WERE both originally characters in novels. It is a strange coincidence that (3) THE first written versions of these stories were probably created in the same place and (4) AT the same time. Nearly 200 years (5) AGO, in the summer of 1816, the English writer, Mary Shelley, spent a holiday in Italy (6) WITH a group of friends including a man called Doctor Pollidori. One night, (7) THEY all played a party game in which everyone (8) HAD to think of a horror story. The story Mary told was about Frankenstein and Pollidori´s was called Vampyre.
(9) OVER the last 200 years, these stories have been told over and over again and the characters themselves (10) HAVE changed a lot. Two recent film versions (11) OF the stories were Interview with a Vampire, starring Tom Cruise, and Mary Shelley´s Frankenstein, starring Kenneth Branagh. I wonder (12) WHAT Mary Shelley and Doctor Pollidori would think of these movies if they could come back to see them.
