This is our new book

Here you have the book we have chosen for this course. It may be too long for just one course, so we´ll use next year as well. 
ENGLISH FILE INTERMEDIATE is between B1 and B2. In some months we´ll introduce exercises from First Certificate in English, the Cambridge B2 exam. But the first part of the course we´ll focuss on this book. And you´ll feel you are learning quite a lot!!

IMPORTANCIA DE LA PLANIFICACIÓN EN LA TAREA DOCENTE

Muchas veces no se comprende el significado de planificar antes de llevar a cabo las clases, porque se tiende a asumir esta tarea como una suerte de trámite con el que hay que cumplir frente a la Dirección o a la Unidad Técnico Pedagógica. Desde este enfoque, la planificación se transforma en una actividad más bien mecánica, que no coincide del todo con el desarrollo de las clases en la práctica.
Sin embargo, planificar es una tarea fundamental en el quehacer docente, pues permite unir una teoría pedagógica determinada con la práctica. Es lo que posibilita pensar de manera coherente la secuencia de aprendizajes que se quiere lograr con los estudiantes. De lo contrario, si no se piensa previamente lo que se quiere hacer, es posible que los alumnos y alumnas perciban una serie de experiencias aisladas, destinadas a evaluar la acumulación de aprendizajes más que la consecución de un proceso.
La clave está en comprender la planificación como un ‘modelo previo’ y no como una imposición. La planificación es lo que se quiere hacer en teoría, aunque no siempre resulte en la práctica. No obstante, no obtener el resultado deseado no significa que la planificación no sea buena, sino que hay que modificar aspectos en ella según el contexto en el cual se trabaja.
¿Para qué planificar?
La importancia de planificar radica en la necesidad de organizar de manera coherente lo que se quiere lograr con los estudiantes en la sala de clases. Ello implica tomar decisiones previas a la práctica sobre quées lo que se aprenderá, para qué se hará y cómo se puede lograr de la mejor manera.
Desde este punto de vista, es relevante determinar los contenidos conceptuales, procedimentales y actitudinales que se abordarán, en qué cantidad y con qué profundidad (el ‘qué’). Pero no basta con eso. También hay que pensar en la finalidad de lo que estamos haciendo, ya que para los alumnos y alumnas resulta fundamental reconocer algún tipo de motivación o estímulo frente al nuevo aprendizaje (el ‘para qué’). De lo contrario, no perciben en las clases un sentido que vaya más allá de la obtención de una nota.
Finalmente, se debe considerar también la forma más adecuada para trabajar con los alumnos y alumnas, pensando en actividades que podrían convertir el conocimiento en algo cercano e interesante para un grupo, dentro de un determinado contexto (el ‘cómo’). Por eso se recomienda modificar las planificaciones cada año, de acuerdo a los grupos con que se trabajará.
